Federica Gatti
Doctoral Candidate 11
Infinera Portugal
Short Bio: Federica earned a Master’s Degree in Physics Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2020. During her studies, she focused on Photonics and Nano Optics, gaining experience in both free-space optics and fibre optics.
Over the past three years, she has worked as a Hardware Developer in an optical R&D laboratory within the telecom sector. Her work involved the qualification of optoelectronic modules, specifically Small Form-factor
Pluggables (SFPs), at the component testing level, as well as their interface with telecom devices through system-level testing. This role allowed her to develop a strong foundation in the telecom field, particularly in the Radio Access Network (RAN) area, and to acquire significant expertise in the use of laboratory instruments as a test engineer.
Research Topic: Advanced network architectures and optimization techniques for flexible converged metro networks
Project Summary: Design cost-effective, scalable and flexible next-generation metro-aggregation networks leveraging future coherent pluggable transceivers and facilitate/automate design of metro-aggregation networks.
