Short Bio: In NESTOR, Xiang will take on the role of DC3 and will be working under the supervision of Profs Josep Prat and Luis Velasco. Xiang completed his Bachelor's in Communication Engineering at Suzhou University of Science and Technology in 2021. He earned his Master's in Electronics and Information Engineering from Soochow University in 2024. During his Master's studies, Xiang developed a strong interest in optical access networks, focusing his thesis on bandwidth allocation schemes to enhance performance in passive optical networks, particularly in reducing packet latency and packet loss. His research areas include passive optical networks and network resource optimisation.
Research Topic: Experimental Comparison of novel and legacy technologies for metro access
Project Summary: 1) Analyze emerging application scenarios and new challenges of metro-access networks for 6G-oriented RAN. 2) Develop novel resource scheduling methods for PON-based 6G Xhaul to meet deterministic latency and jitter targets of new services. 3) Optimize transport protocols between optical and 6G mobile systems to explore the feasibility of further reducing end-to-end latency and improve network reliability.
